To The Parents of Those in Youth Hockey:

Each family is expected to work four times. However, if you are a Mite Parent you will be expected to work only 2 times this year, with the understanding that if we need more volunteers you will be the first to be called. We will NOT be requiring all families to work at least one varsity game. As of now, it is not an issue to get people to work at them. So, any game you work at the concession stand will be counted. It is possible that even if every family works their required times, we still may need extra help. So, if you are willing to work more at the end of the season, it is greatly appreciated. It is expected that if your child's team is hosting a tournament or jamboree you will need to volunteer somehow. However, this is also a reminder that all games worked for a tournament OR jamboree are not eligible for the required times to be worked by your family.

You may opt out of working in the concession stand. However, to do this it, it will be a $20.00 charge for each game. If you choose to pay the fee instead of working please contact me immediately, so you can be accounted for. If you decide not to work you share of games during the season you will be expected to pay for each game missed and will be charged accordingly. It is unfair for those who do work, if others are not held accountable. This also applies to mite parents, even if your child does not participate in practice on a regular bases. You have been given equipment for your child to use during the season, so you do not have to purchase them yourself. We need everyone's help to continue to provide a good opportunity for our youth. One will also be charged these fees if you do not show up for any of the games you are scheduled for. There will be a sign-in sheet at the Concession Stand, please, make sure you sign-in when you work; if you do not sign-in you will be charged accordingly.

When yo are scheduled to open the Concession Stand for a game, please be down there at least 1 hour earlier than the game is scheduled to start. It is very important that we are ready to serve 45 minutes before the game is scheduled to start. There are fans waiting who may want something along with the players who sometimes get a little snack before the game. It is important we make ourselves available for those who are there. The money box and keys will be at Wayne and Shelia Hanson's home as it has been in the past. So, it is important to make arrangements with them when you are going to be picking up the money and keys.

I know that many of you may have your children at the arena with you when you work; however, it is very important that they are not in the concession with you. It is a liability for the Blue Line Club to have children, under the age of 15, working in the concession stand, and we would feel really terrible if he/she were to get hurt (mainly burnt).

We had very good luck with the use of the till last year in the concession stand. We are running a non-profit organization and the Concession Stand helps sustain our ability to function it, and the till is needed to properly track our income. It is very easy to use, and instructions will be posted on how to operate it. If you have any questions about the till, please feel free to contact me at any time. I found that especially during busy games if one person ran the till and the others filled the orders, things ran smoothly. I am in the process of trying to figure out how to make things a little less chaotic during the busy times. If you have any suggestions, please, let me know.

Due to registration being earlier this year, the official schedule will have some changes to it. Please check the bulletin board at the arena for the changes. Last year, there were times when it was difficult to find workers, so, please note, if you are not signed up for your games by December 31st, a game will be assigned to you. Once you are assigned a game, it is your responsibility to find your own replacement. If you need to contact me about working at the concession stand, email works great. If you can, please do so.

If for any reason you have a question or concern, please feel free to contact me. Rest assured, I will be working my hardest to keep things running smoothly and efficiently as possible. However, please be patient with me because I will also be running with children in hockey and we all know how hectic that can be. Make sure you have fun when you are working; we are doing this for our children, but we don't want them to have ALL the fun!

Enjoy the season!
Sincerely,
