To
The Parents of Those in Youth Hockey:
As
some of you may know, there has been a change in the Concession Stand
Coordinator. Sandy Derosier was the
coordinator for many years, but now has decided it is time to hand over her
duties to someone who has children in the youth hockey program. Her years of
dedication have been much appreciated. The Blue Line Club has combined the scheduling of
the Concession
Stand and the Concession Stand Manager into one position.
Therefore, if there are any questions regarding the scheduling or the
functioning of the concession stand you can direct them my way. The basic
functioning of the concession stand
will remain the same, but a few changes will be made. We will be doing
some things a little differently to see if we can run a more efficient and
profitable entity.
The
first change that will be taking place is those who will be expected to
work. With the reformation of the Blue Line Teams (having a Junior Varsity team, but no Bantam team) we are
going to expect the mite parents to participate in working at the concession
stand, just as we do the other levels. Each family is expected to work
four times; one of the times is required to be at a Varsity level hockey game.
It is possible that even if every family works their required four times, we
still may need extra help. So, if you are willing to work more it is
greatly appreciated. This is also a reminder that all games worked for a
tournament or jamboree are not eligible for the required times to be worked by
your family, however, if we have more workers than time allotted, they will be
scheduled for the peanut jamboree at the end of the year. If you do
not sign up to work at concession stand you will be assigned a game. I
don’t want to have to do this, because I understand how busy schedules can be,
however, once you are scheduled for a game it is your responsibility to find
your own replacement.
You
may opt out of working in the concession stand. However, to do this, it
will be a $20.00 charge for each game. If you choose to pay the fee
instead of working please contact me immediately, so you can be accounted
for. You will also be charged these fees if you do not show up for any of
the games you are scheduled for. There will be a sign in sheet at the
Concession Stand. Make sure you sign in when you work, because if you do
not sign you will be charged for not working the game you were schedule
for.
When
you are scheduled to open the Concession Stand for a game, please be down there
at least a 1 hour earlier than the game is scheduled to start. It is very
important that we are ready to serve 45 minutes before the game is scheduled
to start. There are fans waiting who may want something along with
the players who sometimes get a little snack before the game. It is
important we make ourselves available for those who are there. The money
box and keys will be at
I
know that many of you may have your children at the arena with you when you
work; however, it is very important that they are not in the concession stand
with you. It is a liability for the Blue Line Club to have children, under the age
of 15, working in the concession stand, and we would all feel really terrible
if he/she were to get hurt (mainly burnt).
Possibly
the biggest change is the Blue Line Club purchased a till, which will be used
at the Concession Stand. Some of you may be relieved and some of you may
not be, but either way it is important that it is utilized. We are
running a non-profit organization and the Concession Stand helps sustain our
ability to function, and a till is needed to properly track our income.
It will be very easy to use, and instructions will be posted on how to operate
it.
I
will be at the concession stand on registration night, October 20th,
for those who have any questions or who want to sign up for their games that
evening. It is quite possible the till may be down there so instructions
can be given that evening. Directions for opening and closing the
Concession Stand will be posted once the season starts. If you are new to
working in the Concession Stand make sure you work with a “veteran” for the
first time.
If
for any reason you have a question or concern, please feel free to contact
me. Be rest assured, I will be working my
hardest to keep things running smoothly and efficiently as possible.
However, please be patient with me because I am new to this position and I also
will be running with children in hockey and we all know how hectic that can
be. Make sure you have fun when you are working; we are doing this for
our children, but we don’t want them to have ALL the fun!
Enjoy
the Season!
Sincerely,
Sara Kenfield
Concession Stand Coordinator
